The Pizza Local concept was born back in 2004, when Emil was managing his family run business in TEVE Packaging which became the number 1 distributor of pizza boxes in Australia.

Fed up with how unfairly local independent pizza stores were treated, both on price and service due to their limited buying power, it was here that Emil considered the idea of a retail banner group for independent pizza stores.

Knowing that the concept had to be more than just a buying group which had been attempted in the past within the industry, Emil introduced sales to the concept. It was here that both Emil and best friend and business partner Paul decided to acquire the highly sought after and valuable phone word number 131 PIZZA.

Emil & Paul knew that with the 131 PIZZA phone number and heavy advertising, local pizzerias could now compete with the large pizza chains by providing ordering convenience to consumers as well as providing Pizza Local stores a nationally recognized brand.

With only 1 independent pizza store being selected per postcode / territory, this ensured that only the tastiest and freshest pizzas were part of the Pizza Local family.

Much the same way that both Emil and Paul have been brought up in life, Pizza Local is all about supporting the local 'little guy' and giving everyone a fair go. And through the innovative ideas of two ambitious individuals, Pizza Local does just that for local independent pizzerias.

Emil & Paul first met back in 1988 in Grade 5 where they attended primary school together. The then fairly lanky Emil simply asked Paul who he 'barracked' for, to which Paul replied "the Blues". And the rest as they say is history!
